We like to say that our vintage fashion archive is like a library dedicated to the history of fashion - with clothes instead of books.
Angelo has been collecting a growing selection of over 150,000 items from the second half of the XIX Century to the 1990s. Since the purpose is mainly the conservation of fashion pieces, the items here are not for sale but can be rented for research or exhibitions by fashion professionals and researchers.
The archive collection is the result of a careful selection based on strict criteria like brands and labels, materials and more generally their potential to represent the period they belong to.
These can be designer and luxury vintage pieces - from Chanel suits to Roberta di Camerino coats, from Gucci bags to Mary Quant's miniskirts - but also historically significant casualwear like military clothing, workwear and denimwear. In general, the archive houses all kinds of clothing, like dresses, coats, trousers, skirts, blouses, hats, shoes, bags and much more.
Items from the 1920s and the 1930s are the most delicate and rare and are stored in the best conditions for their protection, wrapped in specific sheets to avoid humidity and stored in paper boxes. This specific selection can be requested for exhibitions or other special reasons.
Our archive customers include designers and creative offices from the most important brands, stylists from the most influential fashion magazines and museums and institutions all around the world. The collection is available for creatives to get inspired for future collections, but we also contributed to more than 100 exhibitions, in Italy but also internationally, from the United Kingdom to China.
A.N.G.E.L.O. Archive is a mecca for research for fashion professionals all around the world.
