In Florence the new A.N.G.E.L.O. Vintage Clothing boutique is opening on a pedestrian street teeming with traditional craft stores. Located just a stone’s throw from Piazza Della Signoria in the heart of the city of art, it is immersed in Florentine tradition while strategically avoiding the crowded main shopping strips.

The development of the boutique has been personally followed by Angelo Caroli, while it was designed by Alessandro Moradei, an architect with strong links to the fashion world. He is the man behind the exhibition area at Stazione Leopolda and Pitti Immagine’s special decorative elements. The store offers eccentricity and style, luxury and history. In a welcoming reception room, furnished with modern antiques, visitors will find branded and unbranded collections, eyewear, shoes and accessories. It will have a warm and intentionally “full” feel to make the shopping experience into a delightful quest to find a rare, unique item. Everything on display will come from the vast A.N.G.E.L.O. vintage inventory, with the selection on offer for the inauguration focusing in particular on the fashions for winter 2010.

The vaulted ceilings reaching over 5 metres in height have undergone slight alterations to preserve and set off the historic architecture, reviving the atmosphere of traditional Florentine craft stores. The wooden floors are painted white, as are the walls. An open-plan staircase leads to an intermediate floor where men’s items will be on display. The ground floor will host womenswear and accessories. A remarkable light fixture will map out the history of headwear, with a collection of vintage hats used as eye-catching lampshades. The large window with an entrance onto the street will allow passers-by to see the entire 70 m² boutique.

In addition to the selection of items on sale, the boutique will also be putting on a series of exhibitions dedicated to designers, legendary fashion houses and topics personally selected by Angelo Caroli. Going by the name “Small Museum”, this project will involve six exhibitions a year, with each lasting 60 days. It is “Small” in terms of the area and duration of the exhibitions, but the pieces on show promise big things. It will highlight the most special and representative items in the archive, as well as many previously unseen pieces that will go on show to the public for the first time. The aim is to provide opportunities for first-hand, full-on experience of fashion research and costume history, areas in which the A.N.G.E.L.O. archive is one of world’s leading authorities.

The first exhibition at the Small Museum will be dedicated to Emilio Pucci, in celebration of Pitti Woman and the designer from Florence himself. It will feature evening and daywear, jackets, bags, beachwear and glasses, all from the golden years of the fashion house and with the timeless, distinctive look of the Marquis.

The A.N.G.E.L.O. Vintage Clothing boutique and the Small Museum – featuring the Emilio Pucci exhibition – will be inaugurated on 17 June 2009, during Pitti Immagine. The celebratory cocktail party will be included in the official schedule for the Tuscan event. The boutique will already be open to the public from 15 June 2009.

A.N.G.E.L.O PRESENTS HER MAJESTY THE TAPESTRY

12TH JUN / 12TH JUL

FORNITURE EXHIBITION

IMG_0001-1

From 12th June 2009 at A.N.G.E.L.O. Vintage Palace it will be possible to visit the last show of this first cycle 2009 prepared by A.N.G.E.L.O and named "Her majesty the Tapestry". A series of small armchairs created by the students of the class "Tapestry and Interior Design" of Arts and Activities School U.Folli at Massa Lombarda.

The project was born from the desire to take back the man's old artigianal duties which run the risk to be forgotten. Techniques which are fallen into disuse and treaded on by the upper hand of mass production.

The union between an old job and vintage materials, new and recycled small armchairs, creates a new concept of "Living". A conscious and solid taste, projected towards a natural consolidated renewal by the experience of the past.

Cristina Gurioli, specialized in traditional techniques of the tapestry, and Simona Gherpelli, Art teacher and an expert naturalist, created the class "Tapestry and Interior Design" thanks to the support of Indra Cultural Club of Imola, Massa Lombarda Cultural Department and Angelo Caroli who gave a selection of vintage materials from the A.N.G.E.L.O. vintage archive .

During the class, every student, equipped with a small wood armachair, a basic tool pouch, straw of linen, jute, nails and straps, has built his own unique piece. Every small armchair has been re-edited with the traditional techniques of tapestry, healing the padding with natural materials like straw, jute and spaghi "with traditional way" - with free creativity. Waste materials selected directly from clothings of the 70's and 80's of A.N.G.E.L.O. vintage archive used to recover the small armchairs, given them an unique character. Here is the result of the fusion between an old job, vintage recover material for a limited edition design pieces.

All the small armchairs will be showed at A.N.G.E.L.O. Vintage Palace in Lugo di Romagna and the exhibition will be open to the public in the shop opening hours for a mouth from 12 June 2009
